Question: About your decision to enter the book in the Kindle Scout program; why chose to compete in the program instead of publishing directly with KDP? Some folks might assume that if you have enough fans to win Kindle Scout, you may be better off just cutting out the middle man! Answer: Good question! I suppose I need the validation of actually winning. Nothing’s wrong with KDP, but winning Kindle Scout looks good on a writing resume’. Question: Let's talk a little about your writing...

So, what would you like to hear about today? How about how to avoid the slush pile? No. Then how about how I made my first sale? Still not interested, eh. Oh, I know, this one will get your pulse revving: any one of a million other boring, pointless, self-aggrandizing subjects you couldn’t care less about. Ya know, I just want to share some food with you. Right down the street, in thousands of locations around the world, and advertising non-stop everywhere, you have the burger joint. The...

Something Eternal is my third, and most likely last time entering the Kindle Scout campaign. It's hard to tell if I'm getting closer to winning or farther away. I've done everything imaginable. I've planned a three-week book blog tour four months in advance. I've promoted the heck out of Kindle Scout as a program. I've built a rather decent list on Facebook. I'm connected on Pinterest, Twitter, and Goodreads. I've contacted people personally. I've had book clubs and small publishers contact me...

As a way to personalize the reader/writer experience, anyone who has nominated SOMETHING ETERNAL will get their name inside the book's "Thank You Page." Just contact me on any site and let me know who you are so I can show my appreciation. If I win, it's only BECAUSE of YOU. https://kindlescout.amazon.com/p/IZ4BSDM2IW1X

Jak’s Register: Today I leave the safety of the castle walls to find my brother. Today I shall bring him home. I must remember that when among mortals, to talk as they do. It is more difficult than one would think to talk…”slang,” and with contractions. I do not blame Vincent. I blame that devil woman, Noemi. I will not speak her foul name again. Tis true, she was my betrothed. It makes it all the more obscene. He is younger than her, and she, worldly wiser than him. Before I carry out...

Vincent’s Chronicle: I should’ve said no. I didn’t want the “power” or “fame,” I just wanted her. Now Jak’s dead. It’s like I have Noemi, but he’s still between us. Growing up, we were so different. I wanted to be like him. I couldn’t be him. Being a knight was everything to Jak. It meant more to him than being with Noemi. But being with Noemi meant more to me. My own brother, Jak, how does a guy choose? So he had Noemi first, but I loved her first. There wasn’t a good...

Malum’s Journal: The serum from the flicker fruit remains unstable and poisonous to the host. I remember the first time. It seems like only yesterday, but it’s hard to believe it was almost a thousand years ago. I chose my most worthy human servant to grant everlasting life to, and he took my left eye, scarring my face to time indefinite. The serum was a dud, yet it produced a very interesting byproduct—the Dwellers. I still haven’t forgotten my losses that day. I’ll get retribution,...

Vanessa’s Diary: I can’t believe they kept this from me, I mean…us. I mean, why is all this stuff so bad anyway? We didn’t have cool things like shopping and manicures where I came from, and where I came from, it’s supposed to be “perfect.” I mean look at these shoes—these shoes, are perfect. Oh, and I love that bath & body shop, too. I’m not shallow, I do what I want, so don’t judge. That’s why I left home, yeah know, ‘cause they judge. I mean, what would you do,...

Revekka’s Observation: Most people might think it’s a blessing, but it’s a curse to feel what others feel. I felt bolts of lightning devour Jak’s flesh from off his body. I feel Noemi’s despair and confusion, Vincent’s rage and fear, Dominic’s hatred and power, Malum’s pious obsession, and Vanessa’s grand delusions. I feel the knights believe they are walking the path of enlightenment, yet an inexperienced apostate will bring clarity, for the final days seem thickly veiled...
